# Screening Questions

Each job has its own set of screening questions. The AI agent asks them in order during the screening call and records each answer. You manage questions on the **Screening Questions** step when you create a job and, afterwards, under **Voice Screening Questions** in the job console's **Screening** section.

For what happens on the call itself, see [How Screening Works](/screening/how-screening-works).

## Auto-generated questions

When you reach the Screening Questions step for a new job, CONFIRM generates a starting set of questions from your job details — title, description, location, pay, and employment type — and adds them to the job. A banner, **AI-generated questions added**, reminds you to review them.

You can ask for more at any time:

1. Click **Suggest More** (or **Generate with AI** when the job has no questions yet).
2. Review the **AI Suggestions** that appear. Each shows the question text, its category and type, and whether it's suggested as a knockout.
3. Click the check mark to add a suggestion, or the **×** to dismiss it. **Dismiss all** clears the list.

> **Tip**
>
> The more specific your job description, the better the generated questions. Concrete requirements like "CDL Class A license required" or "must be available weekends" produce sharper questions — and better knockout candidates.

## Creating custom questions

1. Click **Add Question** (or **Create Manually** when the list is empty).
2. Enter the **Question Text** — write it the way you'd want the agent to say it in conversation.
3. Choose a **Type** and a **Category** (General, Qualifications, Availability, Logistics, Experience, or Skills).
4. Optionally tick **Knockout question** to make it a must-have — see [Knockout Criteria](/jobs/knockout-criteria).
5. Click **Create & Add**.

### Question types

| Type | Use case | Example |
| -------------- | --------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Open Ended** | Qualitative answers where you want detail | "Tell me about your experience managing a team." |
| **Yes / No** | Confirming specific requirements | "Do you have a valid driver's license?" |
| **Numeric** | Quantifiable answers you may compare to a threshold | "How many years of customer service experience do you have?" |

The Type menu also lists **Boolean** and **Rating**. Yes / No and Numeric questions pair naturally with knockouts; Open Ended questions are best for context.

## Editing and ordering

* **Edit** — click a question's text to edit it inline, then save.
* **Reorder** — drag questions into the order you want. The agent asks them in this order on the call.
* **Knockout** — click the **Regular** / **Knockout** chip on a question to switch it, then configure the pass condition. See [Knockout Criteria](/jobs/knockout-criteria).
* **Remove** — click the trash icon to remove a question from the job.

On a job that's already set up, each question also has a **Listen** toggle. Turn it on to feature the candidate's recorded answer to that question on the review page.

Each job keeps its own question list — changing questions on one job never affects another. When you duplicate a job, you can choose to copy the questions or have new ones generated for the new role.

> **Note**
>
> Questions are asked by voice, so phrase them conversationally. "How many years have you worked in a warehouse?" lands better on a call than "State your total warehouse experience in years."
