# Creating a Job

To start screening candidates, create a job. The setup flow walks you through the role itself, the screening questions, the hiring pipeline, interview scheduling, and a final review.

To start, go to **Jobs** and click **Post Your Job**.

> **Note**
>
> Your job stays in **Draft** until you activate it on the last step. Nobody is called or screened while a job is a draft. Once the first step is saved you can leave at any point: click **Save Draft**, then pick up later with **Continue setup** on the job's row in the Jobs list.

## The five steps

#### Job Details

Describe the role. You have three ways to fill this step in:

* **Upload or paste a job description.** Click **Upload file** and choose a PDF, Word, or text file, or click **Paste text**, paste the description, and click **Pre-fill from text**. CONFIRM reads the description and fills in the title, description, pay, location, and more for you to review.
* **Generate with AI.** Enter a title and click **Generate with AI** to draft the description, requirements, pay, and industry.
* **Type it in** yourself.

The fields on this step:

| Area | Fields |
| --------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Job Info** | Title, Employment Type (Full-time, Part-time, Contract, Temporary), Work Arrangement (On-site, Remote, Hybrid), Industry, Seniority, Education level |
| **Location** | Street address, city, state, and ZIP (hidden for remote jobs). Pick from **Reuse a recent location**, or click **Save as company default** to start future jobs with this address. |
| **Compensation & Schedule** | Pay range (hourly or yearly) and the work schedule. Under **More compensation options**: shift differentials (night, weekend, holiday), overtime eligibility and rate, and bonuses (sign-on, referral, attendance, performance), each with how often it's paid — one-time, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual. |
| **Description** | The job description, a **Company Pitch** (one or two sentences the AI agent says when it introduces your company on the call), and **Company name pronunciation** |
| **Additional Details** | Requirements, responsibilities, and benefits |

Company pitch and benefits can each be saved as a company default for future jobs. Company name pronunciation is saved for your whole company, not just this job — the same setting lives in **Settings → Knowledge Base**.

The **Post quality** panel rates the posting (**Excellent**, **Good**, or **Needs work**) against Indeed's posting guidance and lists what to fix. Click **Enhance with AI** to have the title and description rewritten, then review the suggestion before applying it. The panel is advice only — it never blocks activation.

Industry, seniority, and education level help paid job boards target the right candidates. Indeed listings depend most on a complete description, an accurate ZIP code, and a pay range.

Click **Save & Continue** to create the draft and move on.

#### Screening Questions

Build the questions the AI agent asks on the screening call. CONFIRM generates a starting set from your job details. Click **Suggest More** for additional suggestions or **Add Question** to write your own. Drag questions to reorder them, click question text to edit it, and switch a question from **Regular** to **Knockout** to make it a must-have.

This step also has **Distance Screening**, which automatically declines candidates who live beyond a maximum distance from the job, and — if your organization uses CONFIRM Background Checks — the job's background check settings.

See [Screening Questions](/jobs/screening-questions) and [Knockout Criteria](/jobs/knockout-criteria).

#### Pipeline

Shape what happens after screening. Every pipeline starts with **Confirm AI Screening** and ends with **Hire Decision**; in between, hover between steps and click **Add a step** to add an interview round, a review, or an assessment (and a background check, if your organization uses CONFIRM Background Checks), and drag steps to reorder them. A summary at the top explains what the pipeline does with a candidate who passes screening, including whether the interview is booked on the call or by a booking link.

See [The Hiring Pipeline](/jobs/hiring-pipeline).

#### Scheduling

Set up interviews for the job: the **Interview calendar** that hosts bookings (the organization default calendar unless you pick a team member's connected calendar), plus interview length and availability. Settings can be shared across rounds on the **Defaults** tab or customized per round. See [Calendar Integration](/interviews/calendar-integration) and [Scheduling Settings](/interviews/scheduling-settings) for your organization's defaults.

#### Review & Activate

Review the **Readiness Checklist** and a summary of the job: details, screening questions (with knockouts marked), interview rounds, and your email and calendar connections. The required checks are job details (a title, plus a location for non-remote jobs) and at least one screening question; the email and calendar checks are optional but recommended, and you can connect your email from the checklist.

Tick **I've reviewed this job posting and confirm all details are accurate**, then click **Activate Job**. Or click **Save as Draft** to come back later.

## After activation

CONFIRM sets up the voice agent and screening questions, activates the job, and takes you to the job's console, where every setting from setup can be changed later. See [The Job Console](/jobs/job-console).

To get applicants, promote the job on job boards — see [Posting to Job Boards](/postings/posting-to-job-boards) — or add candidates yourself from the Candidates page.
