# Reschedules & No-Shows

Booked interviews don't always go to plan. This page covers moving an interview, what happens when a candidate asks to reschedule, cancelling, and marking a candidate who didn't show up.

## When a candidate asks to reschedule

Candidates can move their own interview in two ways:

* **From their booking link.** If they open their link after booking, the page offers **Reschedule Your Interview**. They pick a new time and click **Confirm Reschedule**, or click **Keep current time** to leave it.
* **By replying to a text.** Interview reminders can ask the candidate to reply to confirm or to reschedule. A reply asking to reschedule moves them to **Reschedule Requested**. Check the candidate's profile, and use **Reschedule Interview** if they still need a new time.

You'll spot reschedule requests in a few places:

* The candidate's status reads **Reschedule Requested**.
* The Dashboard's **Reschedule Requests** stat counts them, and the interview's row in **Upcoming Interviews** shows **Reschedule** instead of **Confirmed**.

Once the candidate books a new time, the calendar event is updated and they're back to a scheduled interview. You don't need to do anything unless you want to step in.

> **Note**
>
> Your organization can limit how many times a candidate may reschedule, and automatically reject them after that. See [Scheduling Settings](/interviews/scheduling-settings).

## Rescheduling an interview yourself

To move a booked interview, open the candidate, open the **⋯** menu, and choose **Reschedule Interview**.

#### Review the messages

The **Reschedule Interview** dialog shows a **Text Message** and an **Email**, each with a fresh booking link. The text asks the candidate to pick a new time for their interview. Edit either message for this candidate if you want.

#### Send

Click **Send & Reschedule**. The candidate is sent the link and moves back to waiting for a booking. When they choose a new time, they're scheduled again.

Reschedules your team starts never count against a candidate's reschedule limit.

## Cancelling an interview

To call off an interview, choose **Cancel Interview** from the **⋯** menu. This removes the interview from the calendar and moves the candidate back to scheduling.

**Text the candidate a link to book a new time** is on by default. Turn it off if you don't want to contact the candidate ("The candidate will not be contacted."). Click **Cancel Interview** to confirm, or **Keep Interview** to back out.

If the candidate is no longer in the running, reject them instead.

## Marking a no-show

When a candidate misses their interview, click **No-Show** on their profile. The **Mark as no-show** dialog asks what should happen next.

#### Choose the outcome

Under **After marking no-show**, pick **Keep in pipeline** (optionally offer a reschedule) or **Reject candidate** (move to Rejected).

#### Add a note (optional)

For example, "called twice, no response".

#### Offer a reschedule (optional)

If you keep them in the pipeline, turn on **Send reschedule SMS** to text them a link to book a new time. It's off by default. The message is filled in from your organization's default; edit it for this candidate if you want, and leave the **\[reschedule link]** placeholder in place, since it's replaced with the candidate's link when the text is sent.

#### Confirm

The button matches your choices: **Mark no-show**, **Mark no-show & send SMS**, or **Mark no-show & reject**.

If the candidate has missed an interview before, the dialog warns you, for example "This candidate has already no-showed once — this will be their 2nd no-show."

Candidates you keep show the **No-Show** status. The Dashboard's **Needs Attention** card lists them as no-shows to decide.

## Rebooking after a no-show

If you sent the reschedule text, the candidate can book a new time from the link. Otherwise, click **Reschedule** on their profile. It opens the same **Reschedule Interview** dialog and sends a fresh booking link. If they never re-engage, reject them.
