# Glossary

An alphabetical reference. For a walkthrough of the core concepts, see [Key Concepts](/getting-started/key-concepts).

### Access (scoped access)

What a team member can see. Most people are **Org-wide**; an Admin can limit a Recruiter, Hiring Manager, or Viewer to specific jobs or groups of your organization. Shown as a chip on **Settings → Team Members**. See [Team Members & Roles](/settings/team-and-roles).

### Application

A candidate's connection to a specific job. A candidate can apply to (or be added to) more than one job; each application moves through its job's pipeline independently.

### Background check

A background screening ordered for a candidate from their profile and run by the screening agency CONFIRM works with. Switched on per organization. See [Background Checks Overview](/background-checks/overview).

### Blocklist

Emails, phone numbers, names, and email domains whose applications are rejected automatically. Managed on **Settings → Blocklist** (Admins), or added while rejecting a candidate. See [Blocklist](/settings/blocklist).

### Candidate

A person applying for your jobs. Candidates come in through postings, your careers page, your referral link, or manual entry, and move through each job's pipeline.

### Careers page

The public job board CONFIRM hosts for your organization. Every active job appears on it automatically. See [Job Boards & Careers Page](/settings/job-boards).

### Company card

The one card your organization pays with for job board ads and org-paid background checks. Admins manage it on **Settings → Billing & payments**; Recruiters and Hiring Managers can spend against it. See [Company Card & Budgets](/billing/company-card-and-budgets).

### Dashboard

The portal's home page, with headline numbers, items that need attention, upcoming interviews, and recent activity. See [Dashboard](/analytics/dashboard).

### Employee roster

The list of current employees that referrals are matched against, kept on **Settings → Referrals** (Admins). See [Referrals & Employee Roster](/settings/employee-roster).

### Fit tier

A summary of how a candidate's screening lines up with the job: **Strong fit**, **Moderate fit**, **Limited fit**, **Pending**, or **Ineligible**. Ineligible reflects a process fact (such as a failed knockout or being out of range), not a judgment of fit. A review aid, not a decision.

### Inbox

The unified view of SMS and email conversations with candidates. See [Inbox](/communication/inbox).

### Interview

A meeting between a candidate and your team, booked through a connected calendar. A job can have more than one interview round. See [Scheduling Interviews](/interviews/scheduling-interviews).

### Job

A role you're hiring for, with its own description, screening questions, pipeline, schedule, and knowledge base. See [Creating a Job](/jobs/creating-a-job).

### Job Console

The per-job workspace you open from **Jobs**, with sections for **Overview**, **Details**, **Screening**, **Background Checks** (when turned on), **Pipeline**, **Communications**, **Schedule**, and **Knowledge Base**. See [The Job Console](/jobs/job-console).

### Knockout criteria

Hard requirements attached to screening questions. A candidate who fails one doesn't pass screening and goes to your team for review or is rejected, depending on the job's pipeline. See [Knockout Criteria](/jobs/knockout-criteria).

### Knowledge Base

Documents and information the AI agent uses to answer candidate questions on calls, kept per job and organization-wide (**Settings → Knowledge Base**). See [Job Knowledge Base](/jobs/job-knowledge-base).

### Metrics

The analytics page with hiring KPIs, the hiring funnel, and job performance for a chosen time range. See [Metrics](/analytics/metrics).

### Organization

Your company's workspace. Jobs, candidates, settings, and team members all belong to your organization.

### Override Status

An action on the candidate profile that moves a candidate to any stage, including back out of **Rejected**. A written reason is required.

### Pipeline

The ordered steps a job's candidates move through after screening, such as reviews, interview rounds, assessments, and a background check. Each job has its own. See [Pipeline Stages](/candidates/pipeline-stages).

### Posting

One job on one board, such as Indeed or LinkedIn. A job can have several postings. Any posting can be stopped; only postings on your own board account can be paused. See [Postings Overview](/postings/postings-overview).

### Quick filter

One-click filters under **More** on the Candidates page: **No Phone Number**, **Background check ordered**, **Incomplete Profiles**, **Referrals to Assign**, **Pending Callbacks**, and **Out of Range**.

### Referral link

A tagged link to your careers page that you share with employees. Applicants who use it are tracked as referrals and matched to the employee they name. See [Referrals & Employee Roster](/settings/employee-roster).

### Role

What a team member can do: **Admin**, **Recruiter**, **Hiring Manager**, **Viewer**, or **Calendar only**. See [Team Members & Roles](/settings/team-and-roles).

### Saved view

A named snapshot of your candidate-list filters that you can keep private or share with your team. See [Filters & Saved Views](/candidates/filters-and-saved-views).

### Screening

The AI phone call at the heart of CONFIRM: the agent calls the candidate (or takes their call back), asks the job's questions, applies knockouts, and records the results. Every active job screens automatically. See [How Screening Works](/screening/how-screening-works).

### Screening questions

The questions the agent asks on a screening call, edited from the job's **Screening** section. See [Screening Questions](/jobs/screening-questions).

### Spend

The running statement of what your organization has been billed for in the current billing cycle, on **Settings → Spend** (Admins, when turned on). See [Spend & Billing](/billing/billing-and-usage).

### Talent pool

A named collection of candidates that can span jobs, kept for future roles. See [Talent Pools](/candidates/talent-pools).

### Voice agent

The AI that conducts screening calls and answers candidate calls. Your CONFIRM team configures its voice and persona. See [The AI Voice Agent](/screening/voice-agents).

## Status reference

The status phases you'll see on the Candidates page. Many candidates also show a more specific badge for their step, such as **Round 2 · Scheduled** or **Background Check**. See [Status Reference](/candidates/status-reference) for the full list.
