# Status Reference

Every candidate shows one **status** at a time: the badge in the Status column of the candidate list and the highlighted step on their profile. This page explains every status you can see. For how candidates move between statuses, see [Pipeline Stages](/candidates/pipeline-stages).

Statuses come from **the job's own pipeline**, so the exact wording depends on how that job is built. A job with one interview round shows *Interview · Scheduled*; a job with three rounds shows *Round 2 · Scheduled*.

## How to read a status

Most in-progress statuses have two parts separated by a dot: **Stage · Sub-state**, for example *Round 2 · Booking*.

The **stage** is the step the candidate has reached. The **sub-state** tells you whose turn it is:

| Sub-state | Whose turn | What it means |
| ----------- | ---------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| · Booking | Candidate | Waiting for the candidate to pick an interview time from their booking link. |
| · Scheduled | Nobody | The interview is booked and upcoming. |
| · Done | You | The interview happened; your decision is pending. |
| · Review | You | A review step sits before this stage. Someone on your team must approve the candidate before they move on. |

A status with no sub-state, such as *Screening*, *Background Check*, or *Hire Decision*, means the stage name says everything.

## In-progress statuses

| Status | What it means | Whose turn |
| ---------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------- |
| Applied | The candidate has just applied and hasn't been called yet. | CONFIRM |
| Screening | The AI screening call is queued, in progress, or being retried. A second line under the badge shows the latest call result, such as *Voicemail left* or *No answer*. | CONFIRM |
| Screening Complete | The screening call is finished and the candidate is waiting for your team's first review. | You |
| Interview · Booking | The candidate has been sent a booking link and hasn't picked a time yet. | Candidate |
| Interview · Scheduled | The interview is booked. The line under the badge shows when. | Nobody |
| Interview · Done | The interview happened; decide whether to advance, hire, or reject. | You |
| *Assessment name* Sent | An assessment step, such as a skills test, has been sent. The badge uses the assessment's own name, for example *Pitch Monster Sent*. | Candidate |
| Intro Video Sent | The candidate has been asked to record a short intro video. | Candidate |
| Background Check | A background check step is in progress. | You |
| Hire Decision | Every interview round is complete; make the final hiring decision. | You |
| Awaiting Review | The candidate is waiting at a review step for your team. | You |

> **Note**
>
> **Round numbers only appear when a job has more than one interview round.** A single-round job shows *Interview · Booking*, *Interview · Scheduled*, and *Interview · Done*. A multi-round job shows *Round 1 · Booking* through *Round 1 · Done*, then *Round 2 · Booking*, and so on.

A review step takes the name of the stage it leads into. *Round 2 · Review* means someone on your team must approve the candidate before they can book round 2. The first review after screening is always called **Screening Complete**.

## Interruptions

These pause the flow rather than end it. The candidate rejoins the pipeline once you act.

| Status | What it means |
| ------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Reschedule Requested | The candidate or your team asked to move a booked interview. |
| No Show | The candidate missed a booked interview. Rebook them or close them out. A second line shows *No-show*, or *No-show ×2* for repeat no-shows. |
| Awaiting Recruiter Action | The automated flow paused, for example after an interview was cancelled, and needs your team to decide what happens next. |

## Closed statuses

The process has ended for this application.

| Status | What it means |
| ------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Hired | The candidate was hired. |
| Client Rejected | The candidate was rejected. The status filter calls this **Rejected**. This includes candidates your team rejected, candidates closed automatically for never responding, and candidates who missed a knockout question on a job with no review step. |
| Withdrew | The candidate pulled out. It's the same closed state as a rejection, labeled differently so you can tell "we passed" from "they passed." |
| Reassigned | The candidate was moved to another job. This old application closes; the new one appears under the other job. |
| Did Not Meet Requirements | On older jobs, the candidate missed a knockout question during screening. On current jobs, a missed knockout goes to your team's review step instead, or is rejected if the job has no review step. |
| Ineligible for Screening | The candidate was screened out before a call was placed, for example because they live outside the job's maximum distance or are on your blocklist. |
| Failed Interview | The candidate wasn't successful after interviewing. |
| DNC | Do Not Contact: the candidate must not be contacted again. This blocks outreach on all of the candidate's applications. |
| Refused Recording | The candidate declined call recording, so calls on this application are blocked. |

## Statuses on older jobs

Jobs created before the current pipeline builder use an earlier set of names. They mean the same things as their current equivalents:

| Older status | Equivalent |
| ---------------------------- | ---------------------- |
| Awaiting Screening | Screening |
| Awaiting Review | Screening Complete |
| Reviewed — Ready to Schedule | Interview · Booking |
| Interview Requested | Interview · Booking |
| Interview Scheduled | Interview · Scheduled |
| Past Interview | Interview · Done |
| Pending Evaluation | *Assessment name* Sent |

## Fit tiers

Separate from status, each candidate has a **fit tier**: a quick read on how well they match the job. It shows as a chip next to the candidate's name on their profile, and as a colored dot on the candidate list when you turn on the **Tier** filter.

| Tier | What it means |
| ------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Strong fit | Résumé and screening results match the job well. |
| Moderate fit | A partial match. Worth a closer look. |
| Limited fit | A weak match against the job's requirements. |
| Pending | Screening hasn't finished yet, so there isn't enough to go on. |
| Ineligible | The candidate was screened out automatically, for example for a missed requirement or distance. |

The tier weighs the résumé more heavily than the screening call. It's a sorting aid, not a decision: your team decides who moves forward.

## Status phases in reports

Dashboards, metrics, and exports group every status into a small set of phases, so a three-round job and a one-round job report the same way. The phase names are: Applied, Outreach, Awaiting Review, Pending Evaluation, Ready for Interview, Interview Scheduled, Reschedule Requested, Awaiting Action, Past Interview, No-Show, and the closed phases Hired, Rejected, Did Not Meet Requirements, Ineligible, Failed Interview, Do Not Contact, and Refused Recording.

See [Filters & Saved Views](/candidates/filters-and-saved-views) to filter the list by status or tier, and [Reviewing Results](/screening/reviewing-results) for what to do with candidates waiting on your review.
